'I got booed, my dress ripped and I had the flu': Anne Hathaway recaps on her night at the BAFTAs as she dazzles in scarlet skater dress on The Tonight Show

Red hot! Anne Hathaway dazzled in a scarlet skater dress as she made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday

She dazzled in a studded Burberry gown as she took to the stage at Sunday night's BAFTAs when she accepted her award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
But Anne Hathaway admitted she didn't have such a great start to her evening at the star-studded ceremony after seeing her original dress rip, getting booed on the red carpet and coming down with a bout of the flu.
The 30-year-old actress was late to the red carpet after her fashion fiasco, meaning she couldn't meet her fans who had been waiting outside in the wind and rain all day.

Catching up: Anne appeared on The Tonight Show alongside news anchor Lester Holt

Speaking to Jay Leno as she appeared on The Tonight Show on Wednesday, she said: 'I was so late that I had to run straight down to the end of the carpet and miss all the interviews.
'And, the worst part was, I missed the fans. They're out in the cold and the rain and the sleet, and they booed me. I got booed, my dress ripped and I had the flu.'
But after leaving the awards a winner for her touching role as the tragic Fantine in Les Miserables, the star explained her night turned out 'great' - particularly seeing as she got up close and personal with award presenter George Clooney.

All alright in the end: Anne admitted she had a great night in the end after bagging a prestigious award and getting to hug George Clooney

She added to Jay Leno: 'I look like a turkey that has been sewn together. Just not good. How irritating am I? Most women don't even have one great dress, I have two.'
The Hollywood starlet positively dazzled as she took to the stage in a simple scarlet skater dress, which showed off her perfect porcelain skin in all its glory.
But although she may have had a difficult start to her evening, it wasn't as bad as that of her Les Miserables co-star Eddie Redmayne.

Fashion faux pas: The star joked she looked like 'a turkey that had been sewn together' after suffering a wardrobe malfunction in her first BAFTA dress

The British actor was taken ill with food poisoning backstage at the ceremony and missed out on presenting an award alongside Sally Field.
Explaining his absence to the audience, Sally said: 'He seems to be puking his guts out back there.'
While Anne later added as she accepted her award: 'Hey Eddie, get well soon, I'd come and hold your hair – but, you know.'

Winner: Anne won the Best Actress in a supporting role award for her role as the tragic Fantine in Les Miserables
