Baguetting... the new planking? Bizarre internet craze of posing with bread sticks

By NINA GOLGOWSKI

First there was planking and then breaded cats. Now the latest internet photo craze: Baguetting.
As a Frenchman might say, this is baguetting to be ridiculous.
A group of celebrities and comedians have launched a unique internet craze of posting pictures of themselves creatively posing with baguettes in their everyday life.
Supplementing the loafs of bread for everyday objects – and in some cases body parts – the stick of bread makes appearances in the personal lives of Star Trek actor George Takei, Bridesmaids' actress Ellie Kemper, and actress Marcia Gay Harden among dozens of others.

Essentials: Star Trek actor George Takei solemnly poses on a plane while clutching a baguette on his lap

Just another day: Comedian John Milhiser poses using a baguette to water his lawn with a friendly wave

Death by bread: Comedian and actress Alison Rich terrifyingly poses with a knife in defense of a baguette seen popping through her ajar door

A dry white bread: Comedian Eliza Skinner shows off a stick of dry, white bread crumbled into a wine class

Adjustments: Dan Gregor & Rachel Bloom pose in a mirror while adjusting a loaf in supplement of his tie

As George Takei is seen straight-faced aboard a plane, he exhibits no confusion in the piece's immense value in his own life as he's photographed riding with his loaf held close in his lap.
In another photo Ellie Kemper enthusiastically works to juice a loaf in her home blender.
In many others the stick of bread is seen used as an ice luge for shots, as a deadly intruder terrifyingly peeping behind an opening door, a curler for hair, and a hand for holding a set of playing cards – and don’t forget the highly private shot of one comedian caught using his in the bathroom.

Private parts: A comedian grimaces at the intrusion of a camera that captures him in a highly private moment with his highly private baguette

Seen under the creation of comedians Tim Bierbaum and John Milhiser of Serious Lunch, the new photo craze appears to take inspiration from the international phenomenon of planking - where people lie perfectly straight and still in unusual places like a piece of wood - as well as breaded cats - where cats are photographed with their faces awkwardly stuck in a hole of sliced bread.
As Mr Bierbaum and Mr Milhiser coin it, their work is simply 'baguette-me-nots.'

Woman of many rolls: Actress and comedian Ellie Kemper, known for her other roles in NBC's The Office and movie Bridesmaids, is seen enthusiastically working to juice a loaf in her home blender
