The first shoots of recovery! Cynthia Nixon's hair begins to grow back after playing cancer victim in play

By MIKE LARKIN

There's something different: Cynthia Nixon attended the Drama Desk Panel Discussion in New York tonight

She made the sacrifice in the hair follicle department by shaving her head to play a cancer victim on Broadway.
But the first shoots of recovery since Cynthia Nixon's run in Wit were obvious when she attended a question and answer session in New York tonight.
The Sex and the City actress had been playing a terminally ill college professor since January, and just finished its run almost a fortnight ago.

That's what it is: And there were obvious signs that her hair was growing back following her Broadway stint

And she seems to have already tired of the bald look if pictures of her at the 2012 Drama Desk Panel Discussion, which was held at the trendy Sardi's Restaurant just off Times Square.
There was noticeable stubble on the head of the 45-year-old lesbian actress as she posed at the event, which was also attended by theatre luminaries such as This is Spinal Tap star Michael McKean.
The discussion focused on such topics as the challenges of playing iconic roles, the differences between creating a new role and playing an established part.
Cynthia dressed down for the occasion, wearing a comfortable brown dress, while adding a touch of glamour to the look with a gold necklace.

Getting hairier: Cynthia is looking less like Crystal Maze star Richard O'Brien

That's more like it: Saucy Cynthia was the favourite cast member for lovers of redheads on Sex and the City

Quite how the actress will feel about the show's run ending though is unclear, especially as it has been tipped to pick up some prestigious Tony Awards.
She also won rave reviews for her performance in the play, which had previously starred luvvie favourite Emma Thompson in the main role of Vivian Bearing.
The New York Times' reviewer Ben Brantley admitted he was at first sceptical she was right for the role, but was ultimately won over.
He said: 'Ms. Nixon’s performance cut closer and closer to the bone. And the emotional transparency I associate with this actress becomes more and more pronounced, revealing the unquantifiable terror as well as the skull beneath the skin.'

Tapping into America: Michael McKean looked excited to be standing next to Cynthia

Words of wisdom: There was something for everyone thanks to the eclectic panel

They're back! Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito to reteam for Twins sequel

By KIMBERLEY DADDS

Together again: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are in talks to reprise their 1988 movie Twins, in which they played test tube brothers Julius and Vincent

We last saw them together on screen in 1988 when they first brought the hilarity of Twins to fans.
And now Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are reportedly set to reteam as they prepare to resurrect their characters for a sequel.
But this time they'll find another unlikely brother - in the form of comedian Eddie Murphy.
Schwarzenegger, 64, played Julius Benedict in the first movie outing, who was conceived by test tube and went on a search for his long lost brother.
And DeVito took on the role of his brother Vincent, who turned out to be much shorter and a crook after failing to get any of the good genes.
Now the stars have reportedly started discussions to revisit the film, but with another surprise sibling thrown into the mix for the follow up, according to Heat Vision Blog.

How they were: The Hollywood stars played long lost brothers who had been conceived by test tube, with Schwarzenegger getting all the good genes

Murphy is thought to be the favourite to take on the role of the third brother in the film, which still remains Schwarzenegger's highest grossing comedy movie.
And original director Ivan Reitman is also set for a return - but he'll just act as producer along with his Montecito Picture Co. partners Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell.
The film now needs a director and a writer to take on the script.

'Triplets': Funnyman Eddie Murphy is said to be in the running to play another surprise sibling in the rumoured sequel

It will mark a screen comeback for Schwarzenegger after he left his post of California Governor last year.
The former body builder made a brief comeback in 2010's The Expendables, and has a few movies in the pipeline.
But his initial comeback stalled after he split from wife Maria Shriver last year, following news he had fathered a lovechild with a member of house staff over a decade earlier.

Now the Shard part: Highest point of Europe's tallest building lifted into place reaching 310 metres into the sky

By JOHN HUTCHINSON

No rest for the wicked: Builders, who are probably working on their highest ever job, help finish off The Shard in Southwark, London

The final piece of the jigsaw was added in place as the Shard building in London was topped off.
It will now take it's place as Europe's tallest inhabited building, standing 310 metres into the London skyline.
A steel spire weighing about 500 tonnes was placed at the top of the building, in Southwark near London Bridge, yesterday.
And, not surprisingly, it needed specific tools to help it into place - specifically the UK's largest crane.
Work on the Shard began in February 2009 and an estimated £450million has been spent on its construction so far.
The building will offer uninterrupted 360-degree views of the capital, stretching for 40 miles in every direction.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the view from an observatory that will be 72 floors up.

Almost done: The final bits are put into place on the Shard skyscraper

Imposing: The Shard dominates the skyline in London, and is now Europe's largest inhabited building

Billed as a ‘vertical city’, it will comprise offices up to floor 28, then three floors of restaurants; a five-star 19-storey hotel of 200 rooms; ten apartments over 12 floors – each seven times larger than a semi-detached house and likely to fetch tens of millions of pounds each; and, finally, the observatory and spire.
Designed by Italian Renzo Piano to resemble an iceberg emerging from the Thames, The Shard has not been without controversy.
English Heritage has expressed fears about the ‘major and detrimental’ impact on views of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and the Palace of Westminster.

Touching the clouds: The Shard reaches its full height of 310m and nears completion taking the iconic landmark building to an equivalent of 95 floors

Big brother: St Paul's Cathedral has been put in the shadows, so to speak, by The Shard

The workers building The Shard come from all over the world, although two-thirds are British.
A fifth are from other EU nations, while Brazil, Albania and Australia are also well represented.
Sellar Property Group says that co-ordination of langauges written on signs - including Romanian, Polish Bulgarian, Russian, Albanian, Lithuanian and Punjabi - has been ‘second to none’.
Australian Tony Veal, 33, a project manager, said: ‘Now my friends come from all over the world.
'Almost every continent is represented here, which makes for some good conversations about past experiences from diverse backgrounds.’
Lithuanian administrator Simona Visinskyte, 23, said: ‘Everything that’s impossible becomes possible in London.’

Check this out! People cross the millennium bridge as the Shard tower is visible in the background

Impressive: The top of The Shard was constructed in Yorkshire, dismantled, and then re-applied onto the live site yesterday

Gwyneth Paltrow's shock confession: 'The best thing about living in England is discovering Boots!'

By NICKY HARLEY

Bargain beauty: Since moving to the UK Gwyneth Paltrow has become a fan of the No7 range at Boots

When asking Hollywood celebrities what they love about England you'd think they'd say the history, the buildings - or most likely, accent. So this latest revelation from Gwyneth Paltrow may come as quite a shock.
Despite having a bank balance healthier than most, the 39-year old actress has revealed her love of Boots the Chemist.
In a recent interview the mother-of-two said: 'One of the many exciting things about living in England for a good part of the year is the perpetual discovery.
'Boots is almost as ubiquitous as the pub here in England. Everyone raves about Boots' own line No7 and their range of high quality cosmetics, moisturisers and cleansers.'
The high street chain became popular with Brits following the discovery by scientists from BBC's Horizons programme that the No7 Perfect and Protect cream was a 'miracle product'.
Shoppers queued for hours to test it out and stores had to ration purchases after many sold out in minutes.

Royal Fan: Kate Middleton is often spotted shopping in her local Boots for Nivea moisturiser

And with so many skincare products costing upwards of £100, it's refreshing to see that celebrities appreciate bargain buys too.
Jennifer Aniston, 43, may be one of the world's most beautiful - and wealthiest - women but she swears by a £1.99 bar of soap. In an interview she revealed: 'I've been using it since High School.
'I wake up and wash my face with Neutrogena face soap. I use a serum and then a Dr Hauschka day cream - that’s it!'

Lather up: Jennifer Aniston swears by Neutrogena soap: 'I've been using it since High School'

Even Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr doesn't break the bank with an expensive beauty routine.
The 28-year old Australian model says her blemish-free skin and glossy hair is down to a £8.25 pot of coconut oil.
‘I will not go a day without coconut oil. I personally take four tablespoons per day, either on my salads, in my cooking or in my cups of green tea,' the model explained.

The Secret's out: Model Miranda Kerr says that blemish-free skin is thanks to her addiction to coconut oil

But for Golden Globe nominee Emma Stone, 23, her sensitive skin may limit the choice but a £3.49 bottle of grapeseed oil works wonders.
Speaking earlier this year the actress revealed: 'I'm seriously allergic to everything. So I just use natural grapeseed oil from the grocery store on my face as a moisturiser. After the shower, I pat it on, and then I'll use it throughout the day and night.'

Feeling fruity: Actress Emma Stone says she uses so much Grapeseed Oil she constantly smells of it

For some stars though creativity can be just as worthwhile as splashing the cash. And in a shock twist the celebrity who swears by this technique is Victoria Beckham.
The Spice Girl turned designer has reportedly been experimenting with making her own facemasks with her latest creation being her best yet.
A friend of the 37-year old told Heat magazine that blending apricot and avocado is her 'latest thing'. The concoction is supposed to have anti-ageing properties when applied to the skin and has even been described as the 'million-dollar facial'.

'I was fat and broken out, I couldn't leave the house': Salma Hayek talks about her depression before she hit the big time

By LEAH SIMPSON

Breaking out: Salma Hayek has revealed that she struggled with her weight, emotions and skin condition before she became famous

She’s a striking brunette bombshell who dated one of Hollywood’s hottest men for three years, but Salma Hayek admits that life wasn’t all hunky dory as far as her looks are concerned.
The Mexican beauty opened up to the new issue of Lucky about suffering ‘severe, severe depression’ from a skin condition and being overweight as a struggling actress.
The 45-year-old star, who was romanced by Tom Cruise after they appeared in Vanilla Sky together, insists it was a far different story when she was 25 and trying to break into movies.

Starting out: Hayek appears in Roadracers in 1994

She told the May issue of the women’s publication: ‘You want to talk about bad skin? I had acne.’
Appearing happy and healthy on the shopping title, she looks a natural stunner in a blue off-the-shoulder dress which accentuated her ample bust.
With her mane of thick locks blowing in the breeze he skin looks fresh and a picture of perfection however she states it was once in terrible condition.
Salma added: ‘And this acne was so bad it sent me into severe, severe depression. Like I couldn't leave the house. The next stage with that sort of depression is food - too little or too much. Guess what I did?’

Brunette beauty: The 45-year-old is now considered one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood and dated Tom Cruise for several years

The curvaceous screen star admits she piled on the pounds when her body reacted badly to the pressures of achieving success in the early Nineties.
‘I was fat and broken out. I couldn't leave the house and I couldn't pay the rent!’
She credits director Alfonso Cuaron for teaching her ‘to meditate, to relax’ and also says Accutane also known as Roaccutane ‘cured’ the acne.
Hayek continued: ‘Since then my skin's forever sensitive and dry.’
As for more drastic beauty treatments, she insists she hasn’t tried to turn back the years yet.
She admitted: ‘Botox - trust me, I've been tempted, but I resist!’

Closer than ever... The million-to-one black and white twins Kian and Remee turn seven

By PAUL HARRIS and LUCY LAING

Loving: Black and white twin sisters Kian (left) and Remee (right), seven years after they came into the world

One is black and has big brown eyes. The other is a blue-eyed blonde with the palest of skin. They might share the same cheeky smile, but side by side, they could hardly look less alike. Yet remarkably, Kian and Remee are twins, born a minute apart.
The pair owe their appearance to a one in a million combination of their parents’ genes. Mother Kylee Hodgson and father Remi Horder both have white mothers and black fathers.
The startling result is a two-tone set of delightful little girls.
They first attracted international attention when they were featured in the Mail at less than a year old.

Sister act: The twins are in different classes at primary school, and have different interests

Now, approaching their seventh birthday, they have never asked why they don’t look the same, nor have they ever experienced any racial prejudice.
‘They are such a perfect example of how it should be,’ their mother told the Mail. ‘They are not bothered about their skin colour. It’s not the big issue everyone else seems to see it as. It isn’t important to them at all – it’s about what they’re like underneath.’
Kian and her 60-second older sister were delivered in April 2005 by caesarean section.

How the story was reported in 2006

Kylee, now 25, recalls the moment she saw them for the first time: ‘I noticed that both of them had beautiful blue eyes,’ she said.
‘But while Remee’s hair was blonde, Kian’s was black and she had darker skin. To me, they were my kids and they were just normal. I thought they would start to look the same as time went on.’
Time, however, only accentuated their differences. Kian’s eyes changed colour and her skin got darker. Remee’s complexion got lighter and her curly hair stayed blonde. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kylee found herself fielding questions about whose children they were, or who Kian’s fair-haired friend was, when she pushed them in their side-by-side buggy.
‘People would ask me why I dressed the children the same,’ Kylee said. ‘I’d just say: “because they’re twins,” and leave people to work it out. It kind of irritated me at first, but everyone in my area got to know they were twins and accepted it. It was only strangers or outsiders who didn’t know.’
Although they share a common bond, the twins are already doing things their own way.

Their appearance may be ebony and ivory, but in character they are chalk and cheese. They learned to walk and talk at different times, even though their first word – ‘Juice!’ – was identical.
Kian, according to her mother, ‘is a bit bossier, a bit louder’. She added:
‘Remee is a bit more laid back. She’ll think a bit longer before she does something.’
Today they are in different classes at school and have different sets of friends.
They both love dancing and sing along to the same records – mostly New York rapper Nicki Minaj and pop star Rihanna.
But their interests are different, Kian has a love of animals and her sister enjoys cookery.
Like many twins though, they have an unspoken, almost intuitive affinity.

The Hunger Games hit by racism row as movie fans tweet vile slurs over casting of black teen actress as heroine Rue

By SARAH BULL

Racism row: A few Hunger Games fans have taken to Twitter to complain about the casting of Amandla Stenberg as heroine Rue

It is the film that fans around the globe have been waiting for - the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins' first The Hunger Games novel.
But while the film looks set to become the biggest grossing US box office hit of 2012 so far, a shocking new racism row has started over the casting of Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi.
Stenberg stars as 12-year-old Rue, the tribute from District 11 who lead character Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with in the area for the annual Hunger Games 'fight to the death' contest.

Translation to screen: The complaints about the casting comes after author Suzanne Collins wrote that Rue had 'dark brown skin'

And Okeniyi plays Thresh, the tough male tribute from the same district as Rue.
But the casting of the duo in the film has sparked comments from a select few fans, who took to Twitter to complain that the parts should not have been played by black actors.
Their shocking comments come despite the fact that author Collins describes both Rue and Thresh as having 'dark brown skin' in her novel.

ID card: Okeniyi stars as the District 11 male tribute, Thresh

While another added: 'Why did the producer make all the good characters black?'
Someone else tweeted: 'EWW, rue is black? I'm not watching.'
And another wrote: 'I was pumped about the Hunger Games. Until i learned that a black girl was playing Rue.'
There have also been comments about the casting of Lenny Kravitz at Katniss' stylist Cinna, although Collins' book makes no specific reference to Cinna's appearance.
While Okeniyi has remained silent about the controversy of his casting, Stenberg yesterday released a statement to her fans.

Screen star: There have also been comments about the casting of Lenny Kravitz as Katniss' stylist Cinna

One user wrote on Twitter: 'Why does rue have to be black, not gonna lie kinda ruined the movie.'

The statement read: 'As a fan of the books, I feel fortunate to be part of The Hunger Games family.
'It was an amazing experience; I am proud of the film and my performance. I want to thank all of my fans and the entire Hunger Games community for their support and loyalty.'
In an interview ahead of the movie release, however, Amandla said she didn't picture herself in the role of Rue.

Posing up: Amandla with co-stars Alexander Ludwig and Liam Hemsworth at a signing of the Hunger Games book in Los Angeles earlier this month

Box office hit: Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Liam Hemsworth as Gale in a scene from the movie

She told Publishers Weekly: 'When I first read the book, I really didn’t picture myself as Rue. Then I read it again, and I did picture myself as her. She’s very musical, and very small like me, and very quick.'
Amandla, whose name is the Zulu word for 'power', was born in October 1998 to an African-American mother and Danish father.
While she began appearing in adverts for companies such as Disney from the tender age of four, Amandla's first screen role was in Colombiana alongside Zoe Saldana and Michael Vartan. She played Saldana as a young girl in the movie.

'We had sex! It works!' Robbie Williams announces that wife Ayda is expecting their first baby

By ANDREA MAGRATH

'We've had scans and cried': Robbie Williams has announced that he and wife Ayda Field are expecting a baby

Robbie Williams has announced that he is to become a father for the first time.
In a typically comical announcement posted today on his website, the singer, 38, revealed that his wife Ayda Field, 32, is pregnant.
He wrote: 'Hey friendlies, I've been keeping a secret from you all. Me and Ayda are going to be a Mummy and Daddy this year!!!!!!!!
He added: 'We had sex! It works!
'We've seen scans and cried... looked at babies in commercials and teared up... the nursery is already planned.
'Basically I'm in love with a little person growing in mummy's belly... and can't wait to be a daddy. Crying now.
'Much love, much joy. Roberto, Mum and Little Bump. xxx'
The exciting news caused such a large number of fans flock to see Williams' announcement that the site temporarily crashed.
Robbie and Ayda married at their Los Angeles home in August 2010, after a four-year relationship.

Announcement: Robbie, 38, revealed the happy news on his website on Friday, and admitted to becoming emotional even seeing babies in television adverts

The couple played coy with the media over the status of their relationship, with Robbie often confusing reporters by referring to Field as his 'wife' in interviews.
The Angels singer even proposed to his girlfriend live on an Australian radio programme. The stunt was laughed off a joke by Williams' spokesperson, but the pair married just seven months later.
Ayda said shortly after their wedding that she couldn't wait to have kids, but, according to the Daily Mirror at the time, jokingly added: 'I hope they are not minging.
'Some people at my school had the ugliest parents, and they came out pretty. I hope ours gets all the best bits, but it’s pot luck who gets the minging ones. Hmmm, I’ll love them any way, I guess.'

Growing family: The couple married in August 2010 at their LA home

Meanwhile Robbie has previously said that he would be happy to raise his children in the US, but that their American accents would take some getting used to.
Back in 2009 he told the Sun: 'I am English through and through, but I can put up with American accents with our kids when they come. It’ll be something I get my head round.'
The couple lead a very quiet life in Los Angeles and are rarely seen in public, preferring to stay home with their dogs.

'I was sick and tired of being fat': How Jennifer Nicole Lee went from 200lbs to a sizzling hot bikini babe

By KRISTIE LAU

Before and after: Fitness guru Jennifer Nicole Lee weighed 200lbs after the birth of her second child. She shed more than 70lbs to become the beach babe she is today but she said it certainly didn't happen overnight

Fitness model Jennifer Nicole Lee has built a career around her incredibly toned body which has inspired people around the world to get fit and shed weight.
But the 36-year-old's personal weight loss journey was anything but easy.
The mother of two sons had tipped 200lbs on the scales after the birth of her second child. Shown here in the midst of her hard work, she dropped more than 70lbs to become the image of health she is today.
The weight loss champion told Foxnews.com that she had to 'let go of wanting my weight loss success to happen overnight.'
The fitness author and former Ms Bikini America said her biggest challenge was letting go of excuses.
She said: 'I banished all the myths and got real with myself... all the excuses such as "I don’t have enough time" or "it's expensive to live healthy."
I also had a hard time giving myself the gift of time as I wanted to see the results instantly.'

Heavy past: The fitness freak is seen above at 200lbs. She now has one of the world's most enviable bodies

The Miami-based bikini babe, who has appeared on the cover of more than 40 magazines, had been fed up with being out of shape especially once she had two children to care for.
She said: 'Being a new mom really hit me hard... I was sick and tired of being fat with little to no energy.
'I made a commitment to learn everything possible about how super fitness models and serious athletes ate and trained.'
Now known as a fitness guru after publishing several books, releasing a swimwear line as well as workout DVDs, she learned to focus on persistence rather than looking perfect.

Working it: She has created her own workout of 'doable' exercises that she believes all mothers can try

It landed her a spot on Oprah where she encouraged other mothers to take her lead.
She said: 'We, as moms, suffer from wanting the best for everyone but we must aim to put ourselves back on our to-do list.'
During the early stages of her weight loss, she put a large emphasis on building strength as opposed to shedding fat, telling Fox: 'Women, especially moms, must rate their health level on how strong they are mentally, emotionally and physically.

New lifestyle: The former Ms Bikini America, seen her on St Patrick's Day in Los Angeles, has appeared on more than 40 magazine covers and on Oprah. She focuses on strength as opposed to cardio exercises

The successful business woman trains her clients to do 'six circuits of three sets of 30-second strength moves followed directly by 30-seconds of a body weighted cardio blast.'
It forces the metabolism to race up and down intensely, which helps to burn fat.
She said: 'I urge women to do more strength training than cardio as lean muscle tone is the fountain of youth.'

The ‘Who Shot JR?’ cliffhanger in 1980 remains one of the most watched programmes in television history. Its UK audience alone was 20million. It had a worldwide audience of 300million.
