The sky's the limit! 100 daredevils complete 13,000ft wingsuit dive to set new world record

Diamond in the sky: One hundred wingsuit skydivers fall to earth in a diamond formation during a world record attempt at 13,000ft

One hundred skydivers in wingsuits proved they were true diamonds as they attempted to set a new world record.
The group, who come from 21 different countries, jumped out of five separate planes at 13,000ft above Perris Valley in Southern California yesterday, in a bid to enter the Guinness World Record Book.
It is the first time a wingsuit formation skydive has been submitted to the record-breaking association.

Record breakers: The team of specially-qualified skydivers flew more than two miles at speeds of up to 80 mph

Flying more than two miles at speeds of up to 80mph, the group stayed close together and managed to achieve this incredible diamond formation.
Each member wore a wingsuit, which consists of fabric stretched between a skydiver's arms and legs and allows them to travel horizontally, as well as slow their descent toward the ground.

Anyone attempting a wingsuit flight must have a minimum of 200 skydives behind them.
The event was partly organised by Raise the Sky, a non-profit organisation which brings elite skydivers into local schools to talk to children about teamwork, goal-setting and achievement, and facing fears, all within the context of human flight.
