Lady Gaga treads on dangerous ground as she covers up in burka-style outfit at London Fashion Week

Treading on dangerous ground: Lady Gaga covered up in a burka-style outfit at London Fashion Week over the weekend

She's no stranger to hitting the headlines with her usually outrageous and revealing outfits.
But even when Lady Gaga covers up, she still courts controversy.
The Bad Romance singer trod on dangerous ground, by wearing a burka-style outfit to Philip Treacy's London Fashion Week show on Sunday night.
The 26-year-old singer covered everything but her eyes in the outfit, which saw Gaga wear a pale pink jewelled headdress, brown silk scarf around her mouth and a large coat-like ensemble adorned with fur tails.

Controversy: The singer covered her head and mouth with silk scarves, and was covered from the neck downwards in fur and leather

No fear: Gaga's bizarre shroud appeared to be decorated with fur tails. which is sure to cause more controversy with PETA

Towering white lace up platform boots completed the eccentric look as Gaga left the Royal Courts of Justice in London some time after attending milliner Phillip Treacy's London Fashion Show.
But Gaga's outfit is likely to cause controversy in more than just one way.
In addition to drawing comparisons to a burka - the full body veil often worn by Muslim women - Gaga was also recently slammed by animal rights charity PETA for wearing fur, who are unlikely to be happy with her most recent ensemble.
Earlier this week Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, sparked a backlash amongst her usually devoted fans by defending her right to wear fur.

A scarf and a half: Gaga sported a jewelled headband under the pale pink scarf, but kept her mouth covered with a brown scarf

Who's that girl: Later Gaga took to the catwalk at Philip Treacy's show wearing a similar burkha style look

The singer, famous for her 'meat dress,' refused to say whether the 'fur' coats she regularly wears are real or fake.
And she came out in support of 'fabulous' Kim Kardashian, who earlier this year was flour bombed on the red carpet for wearing fur.
'I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypercritical not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, 'kermit' and not to mention meat, that I have already worn,' Gaga explained.
