Black is best: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and George Clooney and Stacy Keibler opted for all-black outfits

It's the staple colour of any wardrobe and it appeared that tonight on the red carpet stars stuck to the black is best mantra.
Angelina Jolie, Stacy Keibler, and Amber Heard Ashlee Simpson led the stars in the dark and dramatic style stepping out in sleek shiny gowns, lashing of lace and cut out creations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this evening.
Miss Jolie arrived with her partner Brad Pitt and the 36-year-old sashayed up the carpet in her draped Grecian style gown in black lamé.

Angelina gave some tips to aspiring actors and said: 'I think the most important think is to have a very full life.'
Brad dropped hints the Hollywood's power couple would love to work together on screen again and said: 'We’re planning on it we haven’t seen anything specific, but we want to. We are working on it.'
Stacy Keibler also stepped out in black but she had donned a lace, off-the shoulder creation by Marchesa, which boasted a fishtail train.
The former wrestler was beaming as she made her way up the red carpet on the arm of George Clooney who looked dapper in midnight blue Giorgio Armani.

Clooney, who was nominated for a SAG told Guiliana Rancic that he was happy people had been so positive about The Descendants.
He said: 'It’s always nice when people are nice to you but it’s nice when they like the stuff because sometimes they don’t.'
Stacy joked that she had seen the film four times but admitted she loved it.
Clooney and Pitt, who are close friends shared a warm embrace and a friendly greeting while the men posed up together with their partners for a golden couple glamour snap.

The Rum Diaries star Amber Heard donned a cut out gown by Zac Posen which she teamed with a oversized quiff hairstyle and flicked out bronze eyeshadow to finish off her look.
One of the first stars to step out onto the red carpet was singer Ashlee Simpson, who stepped out in a Jenny Packham gown with a short blonde crop and she spoke about her heavily pregnant sister.
Speaking about Jessica she said: ‘She’s completely content she’s so happy it’s fun to be around her.’

Emma Stone steered away from her usual green palette and also conformed to the colour of the evening stepped out in an angular Alexander McQueen gown.
While black was one of the most prominent trends there was also a burst of bright berry shades also complemented the carpet.
My Week With Marilyn star Michelle Williams opted for strawberry red and looked great in a simple Valentino gown with lace overlay and scallop cut detail around the chest area.
